Robert J. Richardson was raised in Spring Valley, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1963 with a degree in Political Science and Economics. He then traveled to Washington D.C. to attend law school at George Washington University, graduating in 1966. While in college and law school, Bob worked for Congressman Mel Laird. Bob left that position when Congressman Laird was appointed Secretary of Defense. After a brief period in the United States Navy, Bob returned to Spring Valley.

Bob has practiced law in Spring Valley since 1966 and has developed a loyal client base from a wide area in Western Wisconsin. He has extensive experience in most areas of the law. He began as a general practitioner with a successful litigation practice. He served part-time as Pierce County District Attorney. Nonetheless, Bob now focuses on tax and estate planning, small business, and real estate law, particularly on how those areas impact his many agricultural clients. Bob offers the unique ability to evaluate both the legal and tax issues presented by his clients. He regularly assists clients at both ends of the tax spectrum, whether helping to manage and distribute large estates, or working with state and federal tax departments to work out delinquent or mishandled tax situations.

Additionally, Bob runs a busy tax and accounting practice. He and his team of tax professionals prepare hundreds of income tax returns each tax season. Both his law and tax clients enjoy the opportunity to evaluate their situations from more than one perspective.

Bob and his wife, Mary Ann, were married in 1967. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren. Bob enjoys the outdoors with walks in the woods surrounding his home or helping on his son’s extensive dairy farm. Bob is an avid sports fan and particularly enjoys local spectator sports, the Green Bay Packers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. He is also an active lay minister at his Catholic church and participates in a variety of projects in and around Spring Valley.
