"They were very caring and understanding of my personal situation. I never felt like I was just another client. They were able to answer my questions and put my mind at ease."

Spring Valley, WI

Timothy J. Scott joined Bakke Norman, S.C. in 1994. His primary practice areas are bankruptcy and municipal. Prior to joining Bakke Norman, S.C., Mr. Scott served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas S. Utschig, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of Wisconsin in Eau Claire.

In his municipal work, Mr. Scott represents the Villages of Baldwin, Hammond, Somerset, and Star Prairie. He also represents the Towns of Warren, Erin Prairie, Emerald and Star Prairie and does occasional work for other area towns and villages.

Mr. Scott is very involved in public service work on numerous levels. Locally, he is a member of the New Richmond Educational Foundation, a Kiwanis member, Scout leader and a lector and religious education teacher at Immaculate Conception Parish. He also is the principal organizer of the Bakke Norman, S.C. Lecture Series, an annual lecture series honoring George E. Norman, a member of the firm who died in 1994. Past speakers for this series have included Alfons Heck, a general in the Hitler Youth organization; Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mohandas Gandhi; Martin Luther King III, and Sr. Helen Prejean of "Dead Man Walking" fame.

Mr. Scott also delivers a lecture entitled "The Holocaust - Its Relevance Today" fifty to sixty times per year to schools, churches, civic groups, and professional conventions throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. This presentation uses the Holocaust history to challenge listeners to examine and extinguish the "flames" of bias, prejudice, racism, and hatred in their own hearts. He also serves on the Law Related Education Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin and is Regional Coordinator for the annual mock trial tournament sponsored by the State Bar.

Prior to studying law, Mr. Scott was a high school German teacher at St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin. He has traveled extensively in Europe. He received his B.A. Degree from St. John's University (Minnesota) in 1980 and his J.D. Degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1988. He also received an LL.M. Degree, summa cum laude, in German and European Community Law from the Eberhard Karls Universität in Tübingen, Germany in 1990.
